The 62nd NBA finals 2009 have two of the best teams competing each other neck to neck will start from Thursday night, June 4. It is the LA Lakers v/s Orlando Magic collision; also it is more like Kobe v/s Lebron one on one.
Here are our predictions: The winner of the 2009 NBA finals is the Los Angeles Lakers.

Orlando magic played the NBA finals first time after 1995 and also gave the Lakers a tough fight but LA Lakers were the clear winners.

The Lakers apparently had the basketball’s best perimeter defender in form of Kobe Bryant making his team victorious in the NBA finals.

Our prediction for the NBA finals MVP is Kobe Bryant. Kobe’s advantage was that he got the ball and literally scored anywhere from the attack zone.

The Lebanese general elections will be held in Lebanon on June 7, 2009. There are in all 702 registered candidates contesting elections.

Our predictions for the elections are:

The winner of the general elections 2009 is the opposition party of Aoun-Hizbullah-Berri. It was the fear of many that Hezbollah may take over, but this scenario has been ruled out. The seats division between the Majority party and opposition party is neck to neck.

The opposition has won by a slim margin. Opposition got 71 seats out of 128 seats while the majority party of got around 57 seats out of 128 parliamentary seats. Major constituency were almost clear with winner predictions beforehand but the decisive result in the election came in from the Christian areas.

The Tony Awards were held on 7th June, 2009.

Here are our predictions for the Tony Awards, 2009:

The winner of the “best play” category is the very deserving ‘Moises Kaufman’ for ‘33 variations’. Next comes the best Musical Category with a clear winner with ‘Shrek The Musical’. Even the best original score for a theater went to ‘Shrek The Musical’.
For the Acting bunch of Awards, Best Actor in a Play went to the marvel ‘Geoffrey Rush’ for ‘Exit the King’. The Award for The Best Actress in a play went to the gracious ‘Hope Davis’ for ‘God of Carnage’. Then for the Best Actor in a Musical went to ‘David Alvarez, Trent Kowalik, and Kiril Kulish’ for ‘Billy Elliot, The Musical’. For the Best Actress in a musical the clear winner was ‘Josephina Scaglione’ for West Side Story.

The best direction musical winner was ‘Stephen Daldry’ for ‘Billy Eliot, The Musical’, while that of direction play winner was ‘Phyllida Lloyd’ For ‘Mary Stuart’.

The Stanley Cup is down to the finals! It will be the Detroit Red Wings and the Pittsburg Penguins battling it out, making this year’s Stanley Cup finals one of the greatest rematches in hockey history. The excitement is building for game one which will be Saturday May 30 at 8pm in Detroit.

Our prediction for the winner of 2009 Stanley cup finals is for the Detroit Red Wings to win in six games and become the first team be back to back Stanley Cup winners in over ten years. Red Wing goalie, Chris Osgood, is one of the hottest goalies in the league, and he is the key to a Red Wing victory. But Osgood and the rest of the Red Wings will have to watch out for Penguin superstars Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. It promises to be an exciting game!

The NBA draft lottery was held on May 19, 2009 determining the order in which 14 teams will pick NBA players for the next season in the NBA draft that will take place on June 25, 2009.

Here is our prediction for the 2009 NBA draft lottery results: the winner of the 2009 draft lottery is Sacramento Kings who was chosen to pick the first player and will probably pick Blake Griffin. The second team was Los Angeles Clippers, the third one was Washington Wizards and then Oklahoma City Thunder.

The 62st Cannes International Film Festival met for 12 days, from 13 to 24 May 2009 in Cannes, France.

The Feature Films Jury included a number of international film figures, actors, directors and authors. French actress Isabelle Huppert served as its president this year.

This year, the highly coveted Palme d’Or, awarded to the Best Director, went to the film director Ang Less for his comedy, Taking Woodstock. Film award prediction: Ang Lee is the winner of the Palme d’Or award at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival.

The Palme d’Or trophy is a 24-carat palm mounted on the finest crystal. The jury awarded a number of prizes, including best screenplay, best actor, and best actress.

The Iranian presidential election was held on June 12, 2009.

Our election predictions : The results of the Iranian 2009 elections are a winning to the current president,  Mahmoud Ahmadinejad with a surprising high number of votes to Mir-Hossein Mousavi, the reformist candidate who was the last prime minister in Iran.

Although, Mousavi wishes to improve the relationship with the western world, he is not willing to suspend the nuclear plans of Iran or recognize the right of the state of Israel to exist as the state of the Jews.

The Cannes Film Festival ran May 14 through May 24, 2009 in Cannes, France, on the French Riviera’s beautiful Cote d’Azure.

This year, the Palm d’Or prize was awarded to Ang Lee for his feature length film, Taking Woodstock. The film is a comedy about the Woodstcok festival that was held on the year 1969. Film award prediction: Ang Lee is the winner of the Palm d’Or at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival.

The Palm d’Or is awarded during the Festival’s closing ceremony to the best film presented during the Cannes festival.
