The election for the Mayor of London was held 1 May 2008 in London. Londoners select a mayor every four years.
Ken Livingstone, the Labour Party’s candidate, was declared the winner of the 2008 London Mayoral Election. Mayoral election prediction: Ken Livingstone wins the 2008 London Mayoral Election.
The slate of candidates for the 2008 mayoral election included ten names. No candidate received 50 percent of the vote in the first round. Boris Johnson, the Conservative Party candidate, and incumbent Mayor of London Ken Livingstone, representing the Labour Party, were the two candidates with the most first choice votes, and they went on to a second round.
Although polls showed Mr. Johnson leading Mr. Livingstone prior to the election, the second round gave Mr. Livingstone the victory in the London mayoral election.
So it be? Maybe . . .
