Karlovy Vary International Film Festival 2008 Results

The 2008 Karlovy Vary International Film Festival ran from 4 July to 12 July 2008 at the Thermal Hotel in Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic.

The Chinese film, “The Shaft,” directed by Zhang Chi, was the winner of the Grand Prize Crystal Globe. Film prediction: “The Shaft” is a winner at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.

The film festival screened 235 films, including 14 that were considered for the Grand Prize.

The resort town of Karlovy Vary, not far from Prague, hosted the film festival for the first time in 1946 as a non-competitive event; the Grand Prize Crystal Globe was awarded for the first time in 1948.
