The 2009 UEFA Player of the year was announced on 27th August 2009 in Monte Carlo. UEFA announced the 12 nominees for the title of Player of the year 2009. The UEFA 2009 Footballer of the year winner is decided on votes by coaches and captains of the international teams. From the 12 nominees announced, six of them were from FC Barcelona.

Here are our predictions for the 2009 UEFA Player of the year:

The 2009 UEFA player of the year winner is Lionel Messi of Barcelona. Messi was the top choice from the front runners like Nemanja Vidic, Cristiano Ronaldo and Steven Gerrard. Messi has been in great form in this season. The second and third spots were given to Nemanja Vidic and Cristiano Ronaldo respectively.
