The 2009 Tour de France winner was announced on 26th July in Paris. The 2009 Tour de France started for 4th July running to 26th July 2009. Tour de France is made up of 21 stages and covered the total distance of over 3500 kilometres. The race visited a total of six nations. Lance Armstrong, the seven times winner came out of his retirement and competed in the race. Two high profile players Tom Boonen and Alejandro Valaverde were prohibited from taking part in the race.

The 2009 Tour de France winner is Dennis Menchov. Dennis crossed the finish line first to take high honours in the podium of 2009 Tour de France. Dennis had a tough competition from the 2008 winner Carlos Sastre and Alberto Contador. Lance Armstrong also gave a tough fight to Menchov but the 2009 Giro d’Italia winner beat all.
