The 2009 Nathan’s Hot Dog Competition winners were announced on 4th July, 2009. The competitive eating event is the world’s most famous hot dog eating competition. Thousands of spectators watch it live and millions catch it on T.V. This exciting competition has a long history and is held every year since 1916.

The winner of 2009 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Competition is Joey Chestnut. Joey won the competition with eating hot dogs of a record number of 61. The highest number is 66 hot dogs also by Joey Chestnut in 2007. Joey Chestnut had a tough competition from six times champion from 2001 to 2006 Takeru Kobayashi who just finished very close to the defending champion. The world and American record of was broken in the competition but since 2007 Joey Chestnut has kept the title in the American name.
