The 2008 Tony Awards ceremony was held at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on Sunday, 15 June 2008.
The highly-acclaimed comedy/spy thriller, “The 39 Steps,” won the award for Best Play. Theatre award prediction: “The 39 Steps” is the winner of Best Play at the 2008 Tony Awards.
The winner of Best Play was nominated in six categories, including Best Direction of a Play, Best Scenic Design and Best Costume Design.
In 2007, “The 39 Steps” won the Olivier Award for Best New Comedy.
The first Tony Awards were held in 1947 in the Grand Ballroom of the Waldorf Astoria to recognize excellence in theatre.
