2008 North Carolina Primary Election Results

Voters in the state of North Carolina went to the polls on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 to mark their preference in the race to name the Democratic party’s candidate for November’s Presidential election.

Pre-election polls showed Senator Barack Obama of Illinois leading Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton by a wide margin among Democratic voters. Future prediction for the winner of the North Carolina Democratic primary election: Sen. Barack Obama wins.

Although Sen. Obama did win a majority of votes in the North Carolina primary election, Sen. Clinton’s appeal to the state’s voters in the days prior to the election helped closed the gap and narrow Sen. Obama’s margin of victory. The state’s 134 delegates are awarded proportionally.
