2008 NFL Draft picks
Round 1 of the NFL Draft 2008 started Saturday, April 26 at 3:00 p.m. in New York. There were few surprises among the first picks in the first round.
Miami – The Dolphins’ management looked at their options and decided that, although they were awful against the run last season, their greatest weakness was their offensive line. They decided on Jake Long, offensive tackle from Michigan. Quick for his size, Long was the first pick in NFL Draft 2008. Football prediction: Miami drafted Jake Long.
St. Louis – The Rams need to beef up their defensive line, especially on the outside. They selected defensive end Chris Long, whose sack record is very compelling. In his senior year at Virginia, defensive end Long had 14 sacks. Football prediction: St. Louis drafted Chris Long.
Atlanta - The Falcons suffered 47 sacks last season, and know they need protection for their quarterback. They hope their first-round pick, quarterback and Heisman Trophy candidate Matt Ryan from Boston College, will have enough skill in the pocket to elude tacklers and find receivers. Football prediction: Atlanta drafted Matt Ryan.
Oakland Raiders – It’s a well know fact that Al Davis is big on athletes with the kind of speed and flash displayed by Darren McFadden, running back for the Arkansas Razorbacks. McFadden, considered by some to be the top athlete in this year’s field, was the fourth player chosen in the 2008 NFL Draft. Football prediction: Oakland drafted Darren McFadden.
So it be? Maybe . . .
