2008 Myanmar Referendum Results
The ruling military government in Myanmar held a national referendum on Saturday, 10 May 2008, inviting voters to accept or reject a new constitution.
Adoption of the new constitution required approval of more than 50 percent of eligible voters; the referendum failed to win the necessary votes. Myanmar referendum prediction: the results of the 2008 Myanmar Referendum show the measure failed.
A 45-member group completed work on the document by late February 2008; in April, copies were made available for review. The proposed new constitution granted 25 percent of seats in parliament to the military and gave the president power to transfer all governmental powers to the military commander in chief in the event of a state of emergency.
So it be? Maybe . . .
