The James Norris Memorial Trophy was awarded at the NHL’s annual banquet held 12 June 2008 in Toronto, Canada.
In 2008, the James Norris Memorial Trophy, awarded to the defense man who shows the greatest all around skill in his position, went to Nicklas Lidstrom. NHL award prediction: Nicklas Lidstrom is the winner of the 2008 James Norris Memorial Trophy.
Lidstrom has won the trophy six times in the past seven seasons
James Norris owned the Detroit Red Wings from 1932 to 1952. Members of the Professional Hockey Writers Association choose the winner of the trophy at the conclusion of each season.
