2008 Ice Hockey World Championship Winners

The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Championship played out in two venues in Canada, May 2 through 8, 2008: at the Halifax Metro Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia and the Colisée Pepsi in Quebec City, Quebec.

The field of 16 ice hockey teams played a number of qualifying games through the first two weeks of the world championship. By May 17, four teams were left standing to compete in the medal rounds:  Canada, Russia, the Czech Republic, and the United States of America.

Canada met the Czech Republic in the Gold Medal round on Sunday, May 18, 2008 at the Colisée Pepsi in Quebec City. Team Canada came away with the Gold Medal.
