Paraguayan general election were held on April 20, 2008. The people of Paraguay had voted in In the election for a new president, national congress and chamber of deputies. The candidates for presidency were Lino Oviedo of the party “National Union of Ethical Citizens (UNACE)”, Fernando Lugo of the party “Patriotic Alliance for Change (APC)”, Blanca Ovelar from the
“Colorado Party (ANR-PC)” and Pedro Fadul from the Beloved Fatherland party.

The winner of the 2008 Paraguayan general election is Blanca Ovelar who had been the secretary of education in the previous government.
