2008 Cambodian Parliamentary Election Results

The 2008 parliamentary elections in Cambodia were held 27 July 2008 throughout the country.

The Cambodian People’s Party kept its hold on government, winning a majority of seats. Election prediction: the Cambodian People’s Party wins the 2008 Cambodian parliamentary election.

Candidates representing eleven different political parties began campaigning a month before the election. The opposition Sam Rainsy Party made a good showing, as did the newly formed Human Rights Party.

Cambodia’s Parliament includes a Senate of 61 members and a National Assembly with 123 members. Members of the National Assembly are elected by popular vote to serve 5-year terms.
