The 140th running of the Belmont Stakes was held at Belmont Park in New York on Saturday, 7 June 2008; post time was 12:00 p.m.
Big Brown, winner of the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes, crossed the finish line of the 1.5 mile dirt track at the head of the talented field of 3-year olds. Horse racing prediction: Big Brown is the winner of the 2008 Belmont Stakes.
The third and final jewel in the Triple Crown, the Belmont Stakes “Run for the Carnations” bestows a blanket of white carnations on the winning horse, while the owner takes home a silver bowl made by Tiffany.
Prior to the race, fans join together to sing, “New York, New York.”
So it be? Maybe . . .
