Legislative elections were held across the nation of Angloa on September 5, 2008.
The Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola - Workers’ Party, led by President Jose Eduardo de Santos, won 75 percent of the seats. Election prediction: The MPLA is the winner of the 2008 legislative election in Angola.
Angola has not held elections since 1992 because of political unrest; the terms of members elected in 1992 were renewed until July 2008.
The south-central African nation is the second largest producer of oil and diamonds in sub-Saharan Africa.
